Around the Ranch - Canada eh?

I just got back from Edmonton, where we did a BLESS clinic for the Alberta Walking Horse Club.

What a great group of people. I want to thank the club for having me come up to this northern province. The horses at the clinic were all solid walking horses. some more lateral, some more square, but all were walking and shaking. Their breeding programs have concentrated on breeding true walking horses without the unknown factor that severe shoing, stacks, and bitting can cause. When a horse is mechanically made, you cannot know if its good breeding or harsh training that made that horse.

It was so green there that I thought I was in Ireland. They have had more than their share of rain this year. there was water everywhere. The area is in the high plains and is for the most part flat with miles and miles of good farmland. The one thing that surprised me was how light it was late at night. We would go to bed at 11:00pm and it was light enough to be out playing ball. It is sure different from Colorado.
